Choosing the right Fairytale to modernise

Beauty and the Beast

We could set the film in a school , where an unpopular boy and a popular girl who dislike each other are forced together through a project or detention of some sort, eventually end up falling for each other which is to everyones disapproval but eventual acceptance

We went with beauty and the beast because it was the staory we had the most ideas for and it matched alot of the common codes and conventions of a fairytale

Boy who cried wolf

A boy keeps claiming that a certain rival gang are after him to his friends and to his keep coming to his aid until on the final time when he is actaully in need and is severly beaten up.

We didnt go with this fairytale because the ending wasnt a good one which is a common code and convention of a fairy tale which we would not be able to show. Also the narrative is a bit repetitive.

Red Riding hood

A student is sent on an errand from a teacher and keeps getting distracted from a evil student who wont let them reach thier goal in time because he wants to take credit for dilivering what the teacher asked.

We didnt Go with red riding hood because we didnt believe there was enough event in the narrative to keep the audience interested , and the was a lack in character developement in Red. Plus the ending seemed abit easy and the moral was lost.
